Harry Potter and Woodland Fairy Themed Maternity Session | Part One | Rosinton, Alabama

Photographing expectant moms is already one of my most favorite things to photograph - but then add in some Harry Potter and fairy dust? I'm done. It just doesn't get any better than that. Well, until the camera-shy pup who usually runs from the camera decides to ham it up and make this one of the most special, emotional, and beautiful sessions I've ever had the privilege of photographing. Excuse me while I cry a little...

We started at Megan and Drew's home in small town, Alabama a couple of hours before sunset. A writer, Meg's bookshelves are full of everything from poetry, to science fiction, to (you guessed it) Harry Potter, (which Meg and I agree is in a genre all its own). We had decided to do the first part of their session inside doing some cozy shots in their living room and nursery. I was expecting some cute couple shots and nice shots of Meg (who is, obviously, incredibly beautiful, making my job that much easier). I was not, however, expecting Luna, the so-called "least photogenic husky in the world" to make her way into several photographs ON PURPOSE giving me the cutest smiles and puppy kisses imaginable. We were laughing so hard. Mom might have even cried a little.

And of course, we had to get some photos of Meg reading Harry Potter to little Liam. You really can't start them too soon.

Not gonna lie, Liam's nursery is basically what I want my room to look like now. It is full of magic and wonder and about as much love as you can fit into one room.

After oohing and ahhing over all of Liam's adorable onesies and and decorations, we made out way back to the living room for a few more shots in front of that nice pretty window. Little did we know, Luna had a few more surprises in store for us yet

Did you see how Luna just walked right up to her Momma and gave her a kiss on the belly?! I was floored. Such a sweet girl. Such a sweet family.

I hope you enjoyed a few of my favorites from the first part of this maternity session. Stay tuned for Part Two, where Meg becomes a beautiful woodland fairy.

If you or someone you know is interested in having a maternity session done, please give me a shout! I'd love to work with you.

xoxo

Jess
