As a professional photographer, I work with couples all the time on photoshoots, engagement sessions, and weddings. Over the years I've gone through a lot of trial and error to find the best poses for couples that are romantic, flattering, and maybe a little (or a lot!) silly. My goal is to get my couples feeling comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera so their love for each other can truly shine through. These are 6 beautiful couple poses for engagement photos, couple sessions, weddings, and more!
Eskimo kisses - the start of a session can always feel a bit awkward as you prepare to be photographed for the next 30 minutes to an hour. Some people love being in front of the camera and others don't care for it so much, which is totally understandable! One of my favorite couple photo poses to break the ice is Eskimo kisses. All you need to do for this pose is have your couple cuddle up really close and rub their noses together. This pose is definitely a bit silly which is perfect for capturing natural laughs and smiles. Eskimo kisses is also the perfect pose to show off your engagement ring!
Booty lift - this next couple photos pose is the fun and flirty booty lift. This simple pose is the perfect mix of sweet and romantic, and only requires the gentleman to lift his lady up right under her booty. From there, she can rest her forearms on his shoulders and play around with moving her legs and hair for some extra drama! This pose is so beautiful and flattering, and I especially love having my couples do it right at sunset.
Piggyback rides - ah, the classic piggyback ride. There's a reason piggyback rides always seem to be included in couple photoshoots: because they're so dang cute! I like to add a fun twist to this classic couple photos pose by having both partners do the piggyback ride. If they're willing, you're sure to get some serious laughs and super fun photos!
Let her lead - I'm sure we've all seen that classic couple photo where the man is leading the woman by her hand, but I love switching it up and having the woman lead instead. I'll direct her to walk a few steps ahead and then look back romantically as her partner grabs her hand. This pose is always super sweet and is an especially great time to capture ring closeups.
Bear hug nuzzles - this one is always a hit! I love having my couples do bear hug nuzzles for some cute and flirty photos. To set up, I'll have one partner come up from behind for a huge bear hug. To get more motion, you can let him have a running start - just make sure he knows not to tackle her lol, and then I'll have him nuzzle into her shoulder as she brings her hands up to rest on top of his arms (if he has a beard you can also direct him to tickle her cheek with it!). For guaranteed giggles, have the bear-hugger whisper the ABC's in her ear in his sexiest voice possible - most couples can only make it for a few seconds before cracking.
